The New Scientist Book Club has been reading the late Iain M. Banks’s science fiction novel The Player of Games. Banks’s friend and fellow sci-fi author Ken MacLeod joined us to chat about the book and about his late friend. MacLeod, himself an award-winning writer, spoke about everything from how the pair met as teenagers at school to Banks’s influences, and even his idea for a final novel set in the universe of the Culture.
